Three years after the Avenger established itself as one of the most popular electric city cars on sale, the revised model arrives with familiar facelift tweaks alongside an expanded engine line-up.

Exterior changes are subtle but easy to spot if you know the current car well. There’s a redesigned grille inspired by the larger Jeep Compass, updated bumpers, new 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheel designs, plus softer-touch materials inside the cabin.

Higher-spec versions also gain illuminated grille detailing and LED matrix headlights, while Jeep has added a front-facing camera and a 360-degree parking system to improve visibility around town.

The biggest talking point sits under the bonnet. Alongside the existing electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, Jeep has introduced a new 100bhp turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Jeep Avenger

In an era where compact SUVs are rapidly abandoning manual gearboxes altogether, it gives the Avenger a more affordable and arguably more engaging entry point for European buyers.

The new petrol unit develops 151lb ft of torque from just 1,750rpm, positioning it as the most conventional powertrain in the range.

Elsewhere, the fully electric Avenger continues with its 54kWh battery and claimed 248-mile range, while the 48-volt e-Hybrid delivers 108bhp through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Buyers wanting extra traction still have the plug-in hybrid 4xe model, which combines 143bhp with all-wheel drive and a rear-mounted electric motor designed for light off-road use.

Jeep has also marked its 85th anniversary with a dedicated special edition model featuring tartan upholstery, gold-effect detailing and exclusive trim accents.

Two additional paint finishes, Forest and Bamboo, join the colour palette, while buyers can now specify a contrasting black roof and optional bonnet graphics.

Fabio Catone, Jeep’s head of Enlarged Europe, described the updated Avenger as a vehicle built to balance urban practicality with outdoor capability.

That formula has already worked well for Jeep across Europe, and this latest update appears focused less on reinvention and more on refining a compact SUV that already found its audience.

Toyota Land Cruiser 2026 Gains Retro Lights, New UK Line-Up https://thecarsdaily.com/toyota-land-cruiser-2026-uk-retro-headlights/ https://thecarsdaily.com/toyota-land-cruiser-2026-uk-retro-headlights/#respond Wed, 25 Mar 2026 18:49:06 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=6628 The demand for the latest Toyota Land Cruiser has been anything but typical, and upcoming changes seem poised to maintain that strong interest—especially among UK buyers.

When the current generation landed in 2024, its limited availability in the UK combined with a retro-inspired design and reliable off-road capabilities triggered an unusual spike in attention.

Early models quickly commanded higher-than-list prices on the resale market, and even now, some examples trade close to £70,000.

The main focus of this demand was the First Edition variants, notably those with circular headlights that nodded to classic Land Cruisers.

Toyota Land Cruiser 2026

In contrast, the more common rectangular headlight models didn’t spark the same enthusiasm.

Toyota has clearly taken notice. For Western European models ahead, the round headlight design is making a comeback, aiming to recapture the look that initially drew buyers.

Although exact UK allocations haven’t been confirmed, this suggests a more unified specification approach compared to the patchy early rollout.

Beyond the design update, Toyota is reorganizing the range into two distinct trims: VX and VX-L. The VX emphasizes off-road capability, while the VX-L shifts focus toward comfort and technology.

Both trims share the mild-hybrid 2.8-litre diesel engine and keep the essential off-road features like Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Monitor, and Stabiliser Disconnect.

Toyota Land Cruiser 2026
Toyota Land Cruiser 2026

Inside, twin 12.3-inch screens serve both instrument and infotainment functions, and seven-seat configurations are available on both trims.

The differences lie in the details. VX comes with 18-inch wheels and an electronic locking rear differential; the VX-L steps up to 20-inch alloys, a 14-speaker JBL sound system, and a Torsen differential designed to improve on-road handling.

Extras like a panoramic roof add a lifestyle angle to the VX-L without compromising the Land Cruiser’s ruggedness.

For those in the UK, the Land Cruiser’s appeal seems anchored in its authenticity.

While competitors increasingly blur the line between luxury SUVs and off-roaders, Toyota’s offering stays true to a more traditional, utilitarian spirit.

Toyota Land Cruiser 2026
Toyota Land Cruiser 2026

This distinction has become a key part of its charm, especially as more buyers look for vehicles prioritizing durability over refinement.

More information on UK availability should be coming soon. With production stabilizing, prices may settle after that initial surge.

Still, with the return of the retro styling, it’s unlikely that enthusiasm for the Land Cruiser will fade anytime soon.

Dodge Durango R/T 392 returns with V8 power for 2026 https://thecarsdaily.com/dodge-durango-rt-392-v8-specs-price/ https://thecarsdaily.com/dodge-durango-rt-392-v8-specs-price/#respond Wed, 25 Mar 2026 09:39:07 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=6618 Dodge has revived its HEMI-powered family SUV, reintroducing V8 muscle to the 2026 Durango line-up with a significantly lower entry price than before.

At the heart of the 2026 Dodge Durango R/T 392 sits the familiar 6.4-litre HEMI V8, delivering 475hp and 470lb ft of torque to all four wheels.

It’s a notable comeback following the end of the SRT 392 in 2024, and while the badge has changed, the performance credentials remain largely intact.

Dodge quotes a 0–60mph time of 4.4 seconds and a 12.9-second quarter mile, although previous independent testing of the same powertrain suggests it could be even quicker in real-world conditions.

What makes this return particularly interesting is positioning. Rather than reinstating the SRT model at a premium, Dodge has integrated the 392 engine into the R/T range, with the Launch Edition starting at $51,990—almost $24,000 less than the outgoing SRT 392.

For UK readers, it’s another example of how American manufacturers continue to double down on large-capacity engines despite tightening emissions regulations elsewhere, even if this particular model remains unlikely to be officially sold here.

The mechanical package goes well beyond straight-line pace. Adaptive dampers, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential and substantial Brembo brakes with six-piston front calipers give the Durango genuine dynamic intent, while a performance exhaust ensures the V8 makes its presence known.

It’s a three-row SUV that leans heavily into its performance brief, rather than disguising it.

Dodge Durango R/T 392
Dodge Durango R/T 392

Inside, the Launch Edition balances practicality with a degree of theatre. Nappa leather upholstery with microsuede inserts, heated and ventilated front seats and second-row captain’s chairs underline its family credentials, while additional bolstering hints at the car’s cornering potential.

Stepping up to the Premium version introduces an 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, carbon-fibre trim and upgraded brake hardware designed for improved cooling under sustained load.

Orders are now open across the US, with deliveries expected later this year.

While it remains a niche proposition from a UK perspective, the Durango R/T 392 stands as a reminder that, in some corners of the market, naturally aspirated V8 performance is far from finished.

Hennessey Goliath 700 Turns Silverado ZR2 Into 700hp Beast https://thecarsdaily.com/hennessey-goliath-700-silverado-zr2-specs-price/ https://thecarsdaily.com/hennessey-goliath-700-silverado-zr2-specs-price/#respond Thu, 19 Mar 2026 09:35:21 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=6450 The modern off-road truck market certainly doesn’t lack power, yet the Hennessey Goliath 700 Silverado ZR2 arrives to fill a noticeable gap.

While Chevrolet’s standard V8 falls short compared to its main competitors, this heavily modified version makes a significant stride forward.

At its heart, the Silverado 1500 ZR2 is still a serious off-roader, but its naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 puts out just 420 horsepower, which trails behind rivals like the Ford F-150 Raptor R and Ram 1500 TRX.

Based in Texas, Hennessey Performance has addressed this by adding a supercharger, an upgraded intercooler, a bespoke ECU tune, and a cat-back exhaust system.

Hennessey Goliath 700
Hennessey Goliath 700

The numbers now claim 700 horsepower and 611 pound-feet of torque, reflecting increases of 280 hp and 151 lb-ft respectively.

This power boost is enough to propel the lifted truck, equipped with 35-inch off-road tires, from zero to 60 mph in a quoted 4.2 seconds — clearly shifting it into the realm of performance trucks rather than just utility vehicles.

Beyond the power gains, the upgrades extend into handling and durability.

The ZR2 keeps its Multimatic spool-valve dampers but adds a reworked suspension package from BDS, which includes new upper control arms designed to enhance durability and improve articulation on rough terrain.

The visual changes match the mechanical upgrades in assertiveness. Carbon-fibre accents appear on the bonnet vents and tailgate, while new steel bumpers raise ground clearance and give the truck a more aggressive stance.

Hennessey Goliath 700
Hennessey Goliath 700

The front end also features integrated LED lighting and a bull bar, finished with subtle but unmistakable Hennessey badging.

Complemented by 20-inch wheels and aggressive tires, the Goliath 700’s appearance is noticeably more commanding than the already capable standard Silverado ZR2.

Inside the cabin, modifications are less flashy but still purposeful. All-weather floor mats and embroidered headrests bear Hennessey logos, while a numbered plaque on the centre console confirms each truck’s unique place in a strictly limited production.

Only 100 units will be made, sold through authorised Chevrolet dealers, and backed by a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty.

Hennessey Goliath 700
Hennessey Goliath 700

With a price tag of $139,950, the Goliath 700 commands a premium well above the standard Silverado ZR2, which starts around $76,290.

It also edges past rivals like the F-150 Raptor R and Ram TRX in terms of price, carving out a niche as an option for buyers wanting serious off-road ability combined with straight-line speed.

For enthusiasts in the UK, it remains a rare but intriguing choice — a clear demonstration of how much the performance pickup segment has evolved.

Infiniti QX80 Red Sport Set for 600hp Performance Boost https://thecarsdaily.com/infiniti-qx80-red-sport-600hp-performance-suv/ https://thecarsdaily.com/infiniti-qx80-red-sport-600hp-performance-suv/#respond Wed, 11 Mar 2026 10:15:59 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=6190 Infiniti seems set to boost its largest SUV. Reports say the company plans to create two high-performance versions of the QX80, which points to a sportier focus for the flagship model in the coming years.

Industry people say the QX80 Red Sport model will be the first to arrive, possibly by next spring.

Power is expected to jump to around 600hp, giving the big SUV a serious performance boost.

While it won’t max out the platform, the Red Sport version should have sharper handling and matching looks.

Infiniti QX80 Red Sport
Infiniti QX80 Red Sport

Updates may include bigger brakes, red calipers, ‘S’ badging, and maybe 24-inch wheels, giving the QX80 a more aggressive look.

Infiniti’s product marketing director, Brian Maragno, hinted the Red Sport model will include “an additional level of performance,” suggesting it’s meant to be a quicker, more fun flagship instead of a complete performance makeover.

Production will probably stay limited, maybe around 600 units per year, offered with the QX80’s Sport and Autograph trims.

For those wanting even more, a second, tougher version based on the QX80 Track Spec concept is planned for 2028.

That version could have as much as 680hp, plus wider bodywork, a special suspension and exhaust system to change the SUV’s feel.

Infiniti hasn’t confirmed these plans yet, but the company says it’s looking at ways to improve the QX80’s performance and build quality.

If these reports are correct, the brand’s flagship might soon offer a much more exciting option in the high-end SUV market.

Porsche Cayenne S Electric joins line-up with 537bhp https://thecarsdaily.com/porsche-cayenne-s-electric/ https://thecarsdaily.com/porsche-cayenne-s-electric/#respond Tue, 10 Mar 2026 08:33:20 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=6035 The Porsche Cayenne’s electric lineup is getting bigger.

The new Porsche Cayenne S Electric slides into place as a strong middle option in the brand’s increasing EV SUV selection, fitting nicely between the base model and the top-tier Turbo.

When it comes to power, this car doesn’t hold back. Its dual-motor system, featuring one motor on each axle, gives you 537bhp standard.

Plus, with Launch Control, you can temporarily boost that output to 657bhp. That’s enough to shoot this big electric SUV from 0 to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 155mph.

Porsche Cayenne S Electric
Porsche Cayenne S Electric

Keep in mind this car weighs over two tons, those numbers are very remarkable.

It runs on the same 113kWh battery pack as the other electric Cayennes. Porsche says it can go up to 405 miles on a single charge (WLTP range).

That means the S is meant to be a practical EV you can take on long trips, not just one that’s good for short bursts of speed.

Porsche Cayenne S Electric
Porsche Cayenne S Electric

The battery can also handle fast charging at up to 400kW, so you can juice it up from 10% to 80% in about 16 minutes – if you can locate a charger that potent.

A lot of the tech inside comes from the top-of-the-line Turbo model. You can also get Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, Active Ride suspension, and huge carbon-ceramic brakes.

The rear motor also has direct oil cooling to keep it running well when you push it hard. There’s even a ‘Push-to-Pass’ feature that gives you an extra 120bhp for up to 10 seconds, which can be useful for a quick burst of speed when you need it.

The look is similar to the regular electric Cayenne, but it has 20-inch Aero wheels and grey front and rear lower panels.

You can pick from thirteen exterior colors and lots of interior styles, including some eye-catching two-tone choices.

In the UK, prices start at £99,900 before you start adding extras.

And with Porsche’s options, that price can go up pretty quickly.

Wild Off-Road Toyota Corolla Build Heads to Mint 400 https://thecarsdaily.com/off-road-toyota-corolla-awdrola-mint-400/ https://thecarsdaily.com/off-road-toyota-corolla-awdrola-mint-400/#respond Mon, 09 Mar 2026 10:59:14 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5908 This old Corolla from the ’80s is getting a new life as a desert racer, and it’s ready to race in one of America’s hardest off-road events.

Randy Wimenta, is an employee at KC HiLiTES, built. This super changed 1989 AE92 Corolla GT-S shows that Toyota’s small cars have more to them than just the popular AE86.

Wimenta got the idea after seeing a picture on Instagram by @stevoform of a desert racer like the ones Ivan Stewart used to drive.

Toyota Corolla
Toyota Corolla

He wanted to turn a regular front-wheel-drive AE92 into something that could handle off-road adventures.

To start, he used two cars that you wouldn’t expect: a normal 1989 Corolla coupe and an All-Trac wagon. By putting them together, Wimenta made a special all-wheel-drive system.

This gives the car the grip it needs for racing in the desert. The suspension has been improved with Bilstein dampers and Eibach parts.

Toyota Corolla
Toyota Corolla

It also has tough Raceline Wheels with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, which give it great grip on sand and rocks. Since Wimenta works at KC HiLiTES, the car has a bunch of extra lights for racing at night.

They call it “AWDROLA”. This unique Corolla was first shown off at the SEMA Show. People loved its old-school Toyota racing colors and the fact that it was lifted higher off the ground. But it’s not just for show.

This weekend, the car is going to race in the Mint 400, a really tough 400-mile race through the rough Nevada desert, competing in the Gambler/Hooptie-X Modified class.

Even though people don’t pay as much attention to this Corolla as they do to the rear-wheel-drive version, it proves that even these less popular models can be awesome for off-roading.

The Mint 400 is no joke. Imagine trying to drive fast for 400 miles across sand, rocks, and who-knows-what-else Nevada throws at you. It is a true test of a vehicle’s endurance and the driver’s skill.

Toyota Corolla
Toyota Corolla

For Wimenta this race is where he will see if his creation is up to the challenge. Other teams are probably running with more expensive and powerful platforms, the AWDRLOA definitely stands out from the crowd.

The car is an absolute head turner, especially with the lights. The Lights is sure to turn night into day. It is an important thing to have when you are racing in the middle of the desert.

It is not easy to take an old car and rebuild it so it can race in the desert. It takes skill, imagination, and a lot of hard work.

Wimenta probably spent hours in his garage, welding, bolting, and fine-tuning every little detail.

He had to be making the all-wheel-drive system work and making sure the suspension could handle the rough terrain.

All of the changes the driver made will allow the car to get through any obstacle.

The AWDROLA is more than just a car. It is a reminder that you do not need anything new.

You can always fix something up to show its true potential. Wimenta has given this old Corolla a new purpose, and he is looking to show people that anything is possible with the right amount of creativity, passion, and skill..

BMW Alpina XB7 Manufaktur Marks End of V8 Luxury SUV Era https://thecarsdaily.com/bmw-alpina-xb7-manufaktur-final-edition/ https://thecarsdaily.com/bmw-alpina-xb7-manufaktur-final-edition/#respond Fri, 06 Mar 2026 20:58:06 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5835 Alpina’s top-dog SUV is heading out with a bang. BMW’s making a special, limited-run BMW Alpina XB7 Manufaktur edition to say goodbye to this hot X7-based ride.

They’re only building 120 of these, and they’re all going to folks in the US and Canada.

Production kicks off in September 2026 at BMW’s place in South Carolina.

Each one will be pretty much the same, except buyers get to pick the paint – either Frozen Alpina Green or Frozen Alpina Blue, both with a matte finish.

Instead of the usual shiny bits, this Manufaktur edition goes for a darker vibe.

The outside details are blacked out, like the cool 23-inch Alpina wheels, and there’s a thin black line along the side.

You’ll see special XB7 Manufaktur badges on the back, and the B-pillars have laser-etched logos to show it’s one of a limited series.

Inside, it’s got that special Alpina touch. Everything’s covered in Walnut Nature Black Tartufo Merino leather – the seats, dash, doors, you name it.

The headrests have Alpina embroidery, and there’s a 1 of 120 badge on the center thing. Backseat riders get their own comfy seats, and it comes with a killer Bowers & Wilkins Diamond sound system.

Plus, you get two Alpina leather bags for weekend trips.

Under the hood, it’s the same powerful 631hp twin-turbo V8 that Alpina is known for. It can rocket this SUV from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.9 seconds.

The air suspension can drop the car almost two inches for better handling, and the rear-wheel steering makes it easier to maneuver at low speeds and keeps it stable on the highway.

This special edition costs $181,550. It’s the last chapter for the XB7 as BMW gets ready to turn Alpina into its own, full-on luxury brand.

Range Rover Sport SV Ultimate Gets Velocity Blue https://thecarsdaily.com/range-rover-sport-sv-ultimate-velocity-blue/ https://thecarsdaily.com/range-rover-sport-sv-ultimate-velocity-blue/#respond Wed, 04 Mar 2026 11:33:43 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5722 The Range Rover Sport SV Ultimate Edition is finally here, and it tackles the one thing that fans weren’t too happy about.

This top-dog SUV now comes in Velocity Blue for the first time, which gives the fastest Sport some real eye-catching style.

Good news is that under the hood, everything’s the same. You still get that awesome 635hp twin-turbo V8 and Range Rover’s amazing 6D Dynamics suspension.

Range Rover Sport SV Ultimate Brings Back Blue

That suspension makes this 2.5-tonne SUV handle way better than you’d expect.

Before, the Edition One and Two models were all about those low-key colors, but this Ultimate Edition has brought back a color that everyone loved on the old SVR.

You can get it in Obsidian Black Satin and Ethereal Frost Satin too, but Velocity Blue will make sure people know you’re driving something special.

They’re only making 500 of these, and it seems like each one is pre-built to a fancy spec. They all have a black roof, 23-inch alloys, and posh Windsor leather seats with holes in them.

Range Rover Sport SV Ultimate Brings Back Blue

Basically, it’s letting everyone know it’s the king when it comes to performance SUVs. If you buy one, you even get a special handover at the Range Rover Studio, plus you get to tear up a track, so you can get wild with that oversteering and see what that Range Rover can really feel like.

It costs £145,995, which is cheaper than the earlier limited editions that went for over £170,000. It’s only a little bit more than the normal £139,995 SV.

Since all 500 cars are already at the dealership, you better make up your mind soon if you want that Velocity Blue.

Rivian Launches RAD Performance Division https://thecarsdaily.com/rivian-rad-performance-division/ https://thecarsdaily.com/rivian-rad-performance-division/#respond Mon, 02 Mar 2026 15:24:52 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5647 Okay, so Rivian is really getting into high-performance vehicles by creating a special in-house group called RAD (Rivian Creation Development).

These guys are all about pushing Rivian’s electric trucks and SUVs to their absolute limits.

RAD has been kicking around inside Rivian for a while as a secret project; now, it’s officially part of the company.

Rivian Launches RAD Performance Division
Rivian Launches RAD Performance Division

This is a big deal since Rivian is already known for building some seriously quick EVs. The first R1T and R1S with four motors cranked out 835hp and could go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds.

For 2026, they’ve tweaked those models to make a crazy 1,025hp, proving they want to play with the big boys in the performance EV game.

RAD isn’t just talk, either. A Rivian R1T actually won the 2023 Rebelle Rally, which was the first time an EV has ever won that off-road race for women.

Plus, Rivian set, and they broke, the record for electric trucks at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb two years in a row.

Rivian Launches RAD Performance Division
Rivian Launches RAD Performance Division

Rivian mentions that what they learn from these events goes straight into making better cars for the road.

RAD has already come out with the RAD Tuner for the Gen 2 2026 quad-motor models, which will allows owners to mess with the power, torque, stability control, and regenerative braking.

There are preset modes like Desert Rally and Hill Climb that are based on the work they did at Rebelle and Pikes Peak.

Rivian took the wraps off RAD at the 2026 FAT Ice Race in Big Sky, Montana, where a quad-motor R1S will be racing.

I am not so sure if we’ll see RAD-only models anytime soon, but one thing for sure is that Rivian wants people to know just how serious they are about making high-performance EVs.

VANSPORTS Mercedes Vito 4×4 gains off-road bite https://thecarsdaily.com/mercedes-vito-119-cdi-4x4-vansports/ https://thecarsdaily.com/mercedes-vito-119-cdi-4x4-vansports/#respond Thu, 26 Feb 2026 18:48:22 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5583 VANSPORTS.DE, a German company, has seriously upgraded the Mercedes-Benz Vito 119 CDI 4×4, making it much tougher.

This upgrade is for those who often drive off-road, mixing useful hardware with a bolder look.

VANSPORTS, teaming up with Autohausgruppe ROSIER (which runs 30 dealerships in Germany), has tweaked the updated W447-series Vito.

They’ve added a special lift kit that raises the ride height by about 35mm in the front and 40mm in the back.

VANSPORTS Mercedes Vito 4x4
VANSPORTS Mercedes Vito 4×4

Longer dampers keep things steady when turning, and it sports 7.5×18-inch Kiruna alloy wheels in matte black with 235/55R18 General Grabber AT tires.

This gives it even more space from the ground and better grip on gravel, mud, or sand.

The power stays the same, with the 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel still producing 190hp and 440Nm, running through the standard 4×4 system.

VANSPORTS Mercedes Vito 4x4
VANSPORTS Mercedes Vito 4×4

The visual changes are pretty obvious. A bonnet attachment and a textured black grille with vertical slats beef up the front. Plus, extended wheel arch trims make the van about 20mm wider on each axle.

Matte black side graphics show off its off-road purpose, and a SOLID aluminium roof rack can hold up to 125kg – great for bikes, roof boxes, or tools.

These parts also fit the similar Mercedes-Benz V-Class, making it good for more than just business use.

Mercedes Little G to Launch in 2027 with ICE and EV Power https://thecarsdaily.com/mercedes-little-g-2027-ice-ev/ https://thecarsdaily.com/mercedes-little-g-2027-ice-ev/#respond Mon, 23 Feb 2026 09:31:28 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5461 In 2027, Mercedes is planning to introduce the ‘Little G,’ a smaller version of its iconic G-Class.

Contrary to initial plans, this new model will not be exclusively electric. Instead, it will come with both traditional internal combustion engines and fully electric options.

The Little G is intended to be the entry-level option in the G-Class lineup.

Mercedes Little G
Mercedes Little G

The decision to offer both engine types comes after changes in global demand and slower sales than anticipated for the electric G-Class.

Mercedes’ CEO, Ola Källenius, has stated that the company will continue to sell traditional engine models well into the 2030s, and the Little G is a reflection of this revised strategy.

The Little G is designed to compete with JLR’s upcoming Defender Sport, as well as other tough newcomers like the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ and Ford’s Bronco, which will be built in Europe.

Mercedes Little G
Mercedes Little G

Instead of using the same architecture as future electric sedans and SUVs, the Little G will be built on its own ladder-frame platform.

According to Mercedes’ tech chief, Markus Schäfer, it is important for the Little G to feel authentic, with many unique parts and body panels.

The gasoline-powered version of the Little G is likely to include the turbocharged, hybrid-assisted 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine found in the CLA.

This engine can produce up to 188 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque.

The engine, made by Horse Powertrain in China, works with an electric motor connected to the gearbox, allowing the car to run without the engine in certain situations.

The electric version will have two ‘eATS2.0’ motors and an 85kWh NMC battery, aiming for a range of nearly 450 miles based on WLTP standards.

Both the gasoline and electric models will have permanent four-wheel drive and advanced torque vectoring for strong off-road performance.

The Little G will be around 4,400mm long and noticeably shorter than the current G-Class.

It will keep classic design elements such as round headlights, indicators on the wings, and a spare tire mounted on the rear.

Pricing for the UK market has not been confirmed yet.

Production is set to begin in 2027, with the electric version being released first.

This new model aims to provide a blend of the G-Class’s traditional appeal with modern powertrain options to meet a wider range of consumer needs.

Jeep Gladiator Whitecap Priced from $50,680 https://thecarsdaily.com/2026-jeep-gladiator-whitecap-price/ https://thecarsdaily.com/2026-jeep-gladiator-whitecap-price/#respond Sat, 21 Feb 2026 09:48:39 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5335 Jeep has expanded its retro-themed line-up with the 2026 Jeep Gladiator Whitecap, a heritage-inspired package that adds distinctive Bright White detailing for just $495.

Following the Wrangler Whitecap revealed in December, the same visual treatment now reaches the Gladiator pick-up.

The look nods to Jeep’s earliest production models, with a Bright White roof and matching side stripe featuring a “1941” decal on the front doors — a reference to the original Willys MB’s first production year.

The outer edge of the signature seven-slot grille also gains white accents, while Rubicon, Rubicon X, Mojave and Mojave X trims receive an additional white bonnet decal displaying the model name.

Mechanically, nothing changes. Every Gladiator Whitecap retains the familiar 3.6-litre V6 producing 285hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive.

Jeep Gladiator Whitecap

Towing capacity remains up to 7,700 pounds, with a maximum payload of 1,720 pounds. As with all Gladiators, buyers can still remove the roof and doors, preserving the model’s open-air appeal.

The Whitecap package is available across Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X, Mojave and Mojave X trims.

Pricing starts at $50,680 for a Sahara Whitecap, while the range-topping Rubicon X and Mojave X versions come in at $63,775 with the package applied. Dealer availability is scheduled for spring.

For UK enthusiasts watching Jeep’s global line-up, the Whitecap underscores how strong the appetite remains for heritage styling cues — especially when the mechanical formula stays reassuringly unchanged.

Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Return Teased https://thecarsdaily.com/jeep-grand-cherokee-v8-return-teased/ https://thecarsdaily.com/jeep-grand-cherokee-v8-return-teased/#respond Thu, 19 Feb 2026 08:44:48 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5244 The Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 could be edging closer to a comeback. Senior figures within the brand have stopped short of confirming anything, but they’re no longer shutting the door on a Hemi revival either.

Speaking to The Drive, Grand Cherokee vehicle integration manager Joe Aljajawi responded with a pointed “stay tuned” when asked about the return of V8 power.

That follows comments made last autumn by Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf, who said customers “want options” when discussing whether the 5.7- or 6.4-litre Hemi might rejoin the range.

Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Return
Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Return

The 5.7-litre V8 was dropped from the standard Grand Cherokee in 2023 and from the three-row Grand Cherokee L in 2024.

The shift in tone mirrors wider changes at Stellantis. Under former CEO Carlos Tavares, the group pushed hard toward full electrification.

Over the past year, however, messaging from both Jeep and Ram has increasingly celebrated combustion engines, particularly the Hemi V8 line-up.

Broderdorf has already committed to keeping the Wrangler Rubicon 392 alive, reinforcing that renewed appetite for eight-cylinder performance.

Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Return

There’s still no official announcement, and a Jeep spokesperson reiterated that the company does not comment on potential future products.

But with Stellantis recalibrating its strategy and executives openly acknowledging demand for traditional powertrains, the prospect of a V8-powered Grand Cherokee no longer feels far-fetched.

For UK buyers watching the American SUV market, it’s a notable shift: electrification may dominate headlines, but the V8 clearly isn’t done yet.

2026 Ram 1500 Rebel X Returns with New Tech https://thecarsdaily.com/2026-ram-1500-rebel-x/ https://thecarsdaily.com/2026-ram-1500-rebel-x/#respond Wed, 18 Feb 2026 09:46:13 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5214 The 2026 Ram 1500 Rebel X is back, bringing sharper styling and exclusive off-road tech to Ram’s half-ton pick-up range.

Positioned between the standard Rebel and the more extreme RHO and SRT TRX, it adds standout features without straying into six-figure territory.

Available to order now from $71,930 (around £56,000 before UK import costs), the Rebel X is powered exclusively by Ram’s 420hp Hurricane turbocharged straight-six.

The optional Hemi V8 offered elsewhere in the line-up isn’t available here. What you do get, however, is something unique: “Rough Road Cruise Control”.

Designed for low-speed trail work up to 20mph, it adjusts steering weight and throttle inputs to function like an off-road adaptive cruise system. It’s the only Ram 1500 variant to offer it.

Visually, the Rebel X distinguishes itself with X-branded bedside graphics and introduces a new Tank paint finish, inspired by military green.

2026 Ram 1500 Rebel X
2026 Ram 1500 Rebel X

Inside, it gains a glass-encased plaque on the centre console and bundles in the Rebel’s Level 2 package. That means a 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio, front passenger display, dual wireless charging pads and heated rear seats.

Leather-trimmed heated and ventilated front seats with red stitching, paddle shifters, a console-mounted shifter and a panoramic sunroof complete the spec.

For context, the regular 2026 Rebel starts at $67,645, while the RHO sits at $76,685 and the 2027 SRT TRX commands $102,590.

The Rebel X neatly fills the gap for buyers wanting more kit and presence without stepping into full performance-truck pricing.

Jeep Wrangler Willys 392 Unveiled with V8 Power https://thecarsdaily.com/2026-jeep-wrangler-willys-392-v8/ https://thecarsdaily.com/2026-jeep-wrangler-willys-392-v8/#respond Fri, 13 Feb 2026 18:37:38 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=5119 Jeep has doubled down on nostalgia—and horsepower. The 2026 Jeep Wrangler Willys 392 lands as the latest chapter in the brand’s year-long run of special editions, and it brings proper V8 muscle back into focus.

Part of Jeep’s “Twelve 4 Twelve” program, which promises 12 limited-run Wranglers in 12 months, this Willys-badged version leans heavily into heritage cues.

Jeep Wrangler Willys 392

Block-letter “Willys” decals stretch across the bonnet, while a retro “4 Wheel Drive” graphic sits proudly on the tailgate.

It’s a deliberate nod to the original military-inspired models, albeit wrapped around a thoroughly modern off-roader.

The headline, however, is the 6.4-litre Hemi V8. Producing 470hp and 470lb ft of torque, it sends its soundtrack through a dual-mode exhaust and promises the sort of straight-line shove few SUVs can match.

Jeep Wrangler Willys 392
Jeep Wrangler Willys 392

Hardware is serious: 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tyres on 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, 11.1 inches of ground clearance, Dana 44 heavy-duty axles, a full-time transfer case and a 4.56 axle ratio.

Steel bumpers, rock rails and a cold-air intake with water separator underline its trail-ready intent.

Inside, there’s less mud-plugger and more modern comfort, with heated, power-adjustable Nappa leather seats and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system.

Orders open in March, with US pricing from $71,990. UK availability remains unconfirmed, but for British enthusiasts watching the American market, this is another reminder that the V8 Wrangler era isn’t over just yet.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 Brings Back the Straight-Six Firepower https://thecarsdaily.com/mercedes-amg-glc-53-straight-six-returns/ https://thecarsdaily.com/mercedes-amg-glc-53-straight-six-returns/#respond Tue, 10 Feb 2026 14:50:09 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=4927 With the introduction of the new GLC 53, Mercedes-AMG has made a strong comeback for Affalterbach’s performance SUV.

Out goes the divisive four-cylinder setup, replaced by a comprehensively reworked 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six, restoring the soundtrack, character and punch many enthusiasts felt had been missing.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 53
Mercedes-AMG GLC 53

The revised six-cylinder unit has been heavily upgraded, featuring a new cylinder head, reworked intake and exhaust ports, a larger intake system and an uprated intercooler.

Boost pressure now peaks at 1.5 bar, while the electric compressor can operate for longer periods to sharpen throttle response.

The result is 443bhp and 443lb ft, rising to 472lb ft on overboost, sent through AMG’s nine-speed Speedshift automatic gearbox and fully variable all-wheel drive.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 53
Mercedes-AMG GLC 53

Performance figures are suitably serious, with 0–62mph in 4.2 seconds and a limited 155mph top speed.

AMG has also focused on driver engagement. The GLC 53 can fully decouple the front axle to run in rear-wheel drive, while a rear electronic limited-slip differential and rear-axle steering appear for the first time.

A starter-generator integrated into the transmission supports stop-start operation and delivers brief additional boost when needed.

Braking hardware is equally substantial, with 390mm front discs and four-piston calipers, backed up by 360mm rear discs.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 53
Mercedes-AMG GLC 53

Sound, AMG insists, is a major part of the experience. A new exhaust system promises a louder, more emotional note, complete with crackles on lift-off and a deep, bass-heavy growl under load.

Early buyers can specify a Golden Accents pack, while the Night Package adds gloss black detailing throughout.

According to AMG boss Michael Schiebe, the aim was clear: more emotion, more character, and more fun. On paper, the GLC 53 finally delivers.

Mercedes-AMG Confirms Electric SUV Coupé for 2027 Debut https://thecarsdaily.com/electric-amg-suv-coupe-2027/ https://thecarsdaily.com/electric-amg-suv-coupe-2027/#respond Fri, 06 Feb 2026 15:55:25 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=4494 Mercedes-AMG is preparing to double down on electric performance, and its next move will be a dramatic one.

AMG CEO Michael Schiebe has confirmed that an electric SUV coupé will join the brand’s growing EV lineup, with a full unveiling planned for the second half of 2027.

The new model will sit alongside a more traditionally styled electric AMG SUV due in early 2027, with both vehicles closely related under the skin.

Each will ride on AMG’s dedicated AMG.EA platform, which also underpins the production version of the GT XX concept.

That architecture brings a round-cell battery design, 800-volt electrical system, and a tri-motor setup featuring one motor at the front and two at the rear, delivering well over 1,000 horsepower.

Speaking ahead of his move to lead Mercedes-Benz’s Top End Vehicle Group, Schiebe made it clear that SUVs are central to AMG’s future.

The body style now accounts for more than half of AMG’s global sales, and the electric SUV coupé is designed to push that momentum further, pairing extreme performance with a more aggressive, sloping roofline than its boxier sibling.

Before either SUV arrives, AMG will reveal its first fully AMG-exclusive electric car later this year. That four-door performance EV, effectively an indirect successor to the AMG GT 4-Door, was previewed by the GT XX concept, which boasted 1,341 horsepower, a claimed 223 mph top speed, and ultra-rapid charging capability.

With active aerodynamics already teased, AMG’s electric era is shaping up to be anything but quiet.

What to Consider When Buying an SUV in the UK

Fuel Type

Petrol and diesel engines remain practical for long-distance driving or rural areas where charging infrastructure may be limited.

Safety

Safety is essential, especially for families. Look for high safety ratings and advanced driver-assistance systems, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.

Size & Parking

Consider your typical driving environment. Large SUVs may be cumbersome in city centres, whereas compact models provide easier manoeuvrability and parking.

Running Costs

Factor in insurance, maintenance, fuel or electricity, and road tax. Electric and hybrid vehicles often have lower overall running costs compared to traditional petrol or diesel SUVs.

Reliability

Choose models known for reliability to avoid costly repairs and ensure long-term value retention. Reliable SUVs also tend to have stronger resale values.

Final Thoughts

SUVs continue to dominate UK roads due to their versatility, comfort, and practicality. Whether you need a compact SUV for city streets, a family SUV for school runs and weekend trips, a large 7-seater for extended families, or an electric SUV for eco-friendly driving, 2026 offers a wide range of options.

By considering your needs, fuel type, size, and running costs, you can find the perfect SUV that suits both your lifestyle and UK roads.

Volkswagen ID.4 Recall Affects Nearly 44,000 Electric SUVs https://thecarsdaily.com/volkswagen-id4-recall-battery-fire-risk/ https://thecarsdaily.com/volkswagen-id4-recall-battery-fire-risk/#respond Mon, 02 Feb 2026 19:12:54 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=4100 Volkswagen has issued a recall for the ID.4 electric SUV, affecting 43,881 units from the 2023 to 2025 model years due to potential battery overheating that could lead to a fire.

The German automaker is urging owners to have their vehicles inspected at dealerships, where software updates and battery repairs will be carried out free of charge.

The recall stems from high-voltage battery modules missing the necessary Self-Discharge Detention (SDD) software.

Readers can view the official NHTSA Volkswagen ID.4 recall document for full technical details.

Without it, certain cells may overheat, potentially shrinking range and reducing overall performance.

Volkswagen’s investigation, conducted alongside its battery supplier, hasn’t pinpointed a single defect but suggests that minor changes during production could have triggered the self-discharging issue.

VW ID.4

Owners can have their ID.4 evaluated at authorized dealers, where technicians will check battery health, apply the SDD software, and replace any compromised modules.

Volkswagen emphasizes that all affected vehicles remain under warranty, ensuring the fix comes at no cost.

While incidents appear rare, this recall highlights ongoing challenges in managing high-voltage EV batteries as electric SUVs proliferate on the roads.

Brabus Unveils 900hp Lamborghini Urus MINT—A $540K Statement SUV https://thecarsdaily.com/brabus-urus-900hp-mint-debut/ https://thecarsdaily.com/brabus-urus-900hp-mint-debut/#respond Mon, 02 Feb 2026 16:48:04 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=4037 Brabus did it again! They got their hands on an already over-the-top SUV and cranked the craziness up to eleven.

This time, it’s the Lamborghini Urus, and they’ve dubbed their creation the 900 MINT. It showed up for the first time in front of people at the FAT Ice Race over the weekend, and let me tell you, it’s a real head-turner. You just can’t miss it.

Seriously, from the paint to the wheels, and even inside the car, they went all-in with this super rare turquoise color. It’s everywhere!

And to top it off, they added carbon fiber bits and pieces on the front, sides, and back. It looks cool and supposedly helps with the way the air flows around the car.

Brabus Unveils 900hp Lamborghini Urus MINT—A $540K Statement SUV

Alright, let’s talk about performance, because this thing is seriously quick. Brabus didn’t just leave the Urus’ twin-turbo V8 alone; they went to work on it.

They’ve paired it with the already punchy 192hp electric motor, and the combined output is just wild: a total of 900hp and a massive 772lb ft of torque.

So, what does all that power mean on the road? Well, you’re looking at a 0 to 62mph time of only 3.2 seconds. Seriously quick!

Now, even though it could probably go faster, the top speed is capped at 194mph. That’s partly because of the huge, eye-catching 24-inch wheels. Gotta keep things somewhat safe, right? The Brabus really knows how to turn heads.

They’ve dropped the air suspension by 20mm, which should make it handle way better than you’d expect from an SUV. Seriously, it’s supposed to corner like it’s on rails! I am excited to see the change!

And get this, the MINT theme? It’s everywhere inside! Every surface is covered in this matching turquoise color.

It’s bold, it’s in your face, and it totally transforms the whole cabin, creating a unified and immersive space. It helps create an amazing user experience.

Now, the price tag starts at €498,000 before VAT. Yeah, that’s a lot of money. But hey, this is Brabus we’re talking about.

They’re all about that instant wow reaction. And let’s be real, not many companies can make a statement quite like this. It is not just the status symbol, but a symbol of innovation.

It also has a great brand reputation. This car is unique and has an identity of its own. It is an absolute eye-turner because of its unique design and amazing performance.

The manufacturer does not leave any stone unturned, and every detail is carefully analyzed before it is put in production.

They want to make sure that they hit perfection, and they spend a lot of time doing so. They truly value their customers’ time and money, and they also provide the highest level of customer support.

Bentley X Concept Hints at a More Hardcore Bentayga https://thecarsdaily.com/bentley-x-concept-off-road-bentayga/ https://thecarsdaily.com/bentley-x-concept-off-road-bentayga/#respond Sat, 31 Jan 2026 16:02:29 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=3781 Bentley’s X Concept signals a bold new direction for the Bentayga, transforming the luxury SUV into a far more serious off-road machine.

The idea, which is based on the Bentayga Speed, was unveiled as a means for Bentley to assess consumer interest in a more rugged, adventure-oriented model, but it feels a lot like a sneak peek at something closer to production.

Unveiled at the FAT Ice Race in Austria, the Bentley X Concept takes the brand’s 641 bhp performance SUV and reworks it with a more aggressive stance and purpose-built hardware.

Bentley widened the track by nearly five inches and raised the ride height by more than two inches, delivering over a foot of ground clearance and a markedly more commanding presence than the standard Bentayga.

Despite the added altitude, it retains the production model’s air suspension and anti-roll bars, suggesting Bentley is keen to preserve on-road composure alongside its newfound off-road credibility.

The concept rides on forged 22-inch Brixton wheels wrapped in chunky all-terrain tires, a setup that boosts wading depth to 21.7 inches.

That’s a noticeable improvement over the standard Bentayga, though still well short of dedicated off-roaders like the Land Rover Defender or Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

Visually, the X concept leans into its Ice Race role with motorsport-style decals, while the roof steals the show with extra storage, spotlights, and—because this is Bentley—an electric go-kart mounted up top.

Whether this is a one-off spectacle or a preview of a future off-road Bentayga, the message is clear: Bentley is watching the off-road luxury boom very closely.

Ineos Unveils 2026 Grenadier Black Edition for $82,999 https://thecarsdaily.com/ineos-unveils-grenadier-2026/ https://thecarsdaily.com/ineos-unveils-grenadier-2026/#respond Thu, 29 Jan 2026 14:26:30 +0000 https://thecarsdaily.com/?p=3390 Ineos has introduced an all-black variant of its 2026 Grenadier, available in both station wagon and Quartermaster pickup forms, and it’s as stealthy as it is rugged.

Boutique off-roader enthusiasts can now opt for the new Black Edition, which starts at $82,995 and will be produced in limited numbers.

Based on the Fieldmaster trim, the Black Edition combines luxury and off-road readiness. Inside, dark headliners, black carpets, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel set a premium tone, while the upgraded stereo and Ineos’s signature pop-up roof windows add flair.

Outside, the Grenadier is coated in Inky Black paint and sits on gloss-black 18-inch wheels shod with Bridgestone AT002 all-terrain tires. Black grille, skidplates, and trim, paired with privacy glass and a lockable spare wheel box, complete the menacing look.

For buyers craving style and substance, the Grenadier Black Edition delivers both. Its combination of rugged capability and boutique exclusivity ensures it stands out in the crowded 4×4 segment, proving that even in a sea of blacked-out special editions, Ineos knows how to make an impression.
